Photographer's Note


We’re still along the river Vecht, but now some 15km downstream from Weesp, in the town of Loenen aan de Vecht in the province of Utrecht. The mill you can see here is located just outside the town centre and along the river and is called “De Hoop” (hence the name of the photo). It is a corn mill, which was built in 1901, after an earlier mill – like we see so often with mills – had burnt down (probably caused by the steam engine that was used for the grain grinding).
