Photographer's Note

The Dutch show a strange behaviour when it comes to sports. The national football team sometimes wins a great number of matches in sequence, but the Dutch supporters don't like it and keep moaning, because they think that the team is not playing offensive enough. And the Dutch Formula 1 driver Jos Verstappen has the largest (very fanatic!) fanclub of any of the small number of Formula 1 drivers in the world, although he has never reached the status that Michael Schumacher or other top drivers have (from a performance point of view).

In 2001 Jos was driving for the Arrows team. The main sponsor of this team was Orange. No wonder that the car was also wearing an orange livery. And as the national colours of the Dutch royal family is also orange, this was the perfect combination. The team came to the racing circuit in Zandvoort in 2001 to give a demonstration for tens-of-thousands of fans. At the end of the day it started raining and after that shower I was able to make this picture by panning and zooming at the same time. Unfortunately, the rear of the car was not completely within the frame and the car is not 100% sharp, but I'm still pretty happy with the result. The orange colour of the road is caused by a reflection of an advertisement billboard of Orange which was positioned next to the track.

Shutter speed was probably 1/250 and aperture F5.6.
