Photographer's Note

Not so far from big neighbour amsterdam but certainly as historic and interesting,Haarlem is a lovely, old pictoresque province town.
Home of many museums, painters(Hals, van Ruisdael)and several writers and musicians.
The 1778 mill "De Adriaan" along the Spaarne river is one of my favourite spots.
It was used for several jobs untill it burned down by a big fire in 1932..
The local politics was not interested(money)to do and finance the reconstruction.
In 1991 the "stichting(foundation)Molen de Adriaan was formed by the local Haarlem and business people, they convinced the Haarlem council and raised 900.000 guilders of the total 2.500.000 guilders(about 1.130.000 euro ;]]!)needed for the rebuilding of this fantastic monument in 1999.
The opening was in 2002!
I was lucky to see it in this Jacob van Ruisdael light.
