Amsterdam - We are proud 2012.
inutile dire che anche quest'anno la pioggia e' venuta giu' abbondante durante la Canal Parade - stavolta pero' non mi trovavo su uno dei ponti, allo scoperto, ma lungo il canale, sotto un albero, per cui ho potuto limitare i danni. eppure, nonostante la solita partecipazione in massa dei cittadini e dei turisti, mi e' sembrato che il Pride di quest'anno fosse un po' sotto tono: le barche meno sfarzose, pochi personaggi famosi, meno sponsor del solito... quella che per fortuna non e' mancata e' la solita autoironia degli olandesi, quel prendere e prendersi in giro con leggerezza e fantasia.

what can I say - the rain came down hard and merciless this year too, raining on the Canal Parade as usual. unlike last year however I managed to endure the shower from under a tree, and eventually the sun came out. unfortunately neither the sun nor the usual crowds of visitors managed to lift up the low-key atmosphere that I felt was permeating this year's parade - the boats were less magnificent, no real VIPs to be seen, even the number of sponsors seemed to have decreased... what was still there was that unmissable Dutch self-irony, that way of making fun of everything and everyone, with creativity and frivolity.

Hello Cristina,
I really like this photo but I have a hard time explaining exactly why. It has to do, of course, with the woman (I guess she is? You never know these days) to the left, the angle of her body, the way she sucks her cigarette, the look she gives her collague, or maybe someone further away. I think the dynamism of the picture is found in the sensuality of her looks and her pose, the way she resembles a vamp from a 1960's movie, and the clash with the hard facts of aids. The woman to the right is anonymous, as we only see her from behind, and mainly serves the function of receiving the other one's gaze.
To sum it up, I don't quite know what to make of this picture but it intrigues me and amuses me, and I guess that should be enough.
There is probably a very simple explanation, obvious to anyone who was there and saw the context.

che bello rivedere una tua foto, sempre in abito da cerimonia e sempre con l'occhio satirico/ironico che ti contraddistingue.
Lo sguardo e la posa della "signora" sono molto curiosi e non ti sono sfuggiti.
Mi occorrerebbe un pò di piaggia, puoi provvedere a mandarmene un pò?

Ciao Cristina, I do not know if it would be compiment or not, but your photo reminds me the photos of Polonaise. Strange shot from the pride parade. Usually they are so colourful, here the black and white looks so powerful. And the look of the nurse is priceless.

An excellent pose, Dear Cristina, as if she were posing the photographers at the entrance of a movie competition. The b&w suits very well, as usual, and the slogan on the other model's back tells the story.

A splendid note, with candid observations and info.
