Photographer's Note

This street (with no channel) offers an example of the many mansions of the seventeenth century that belong to the city's. In looking up, we invariably see the hooks of the granaries, all expertly maintained and pampered, so much that even modern buildings have them as a decoration.

It cannot be seen on this picture, but many of these houses are tiltes, because of the relative stability of their stilted basement; gradually these plantings are now redone.

Excellente prise peu banale pour montrer une particularité d'Amsterdam à savoir ces potences et leurs crochets qui sont au fronton de presque toutes les maisons et sont destinés à permettre de hisser par l'extérieur ce qui ne peut l'être par l'intérieur.
