Photographer's Note

On our way home from Drenthe we took a little detour to visit the Memorial of Camp Westerbork.
Westerbork was a detention and transit camp during the Second World War. Well over 100,000 Dutch Jews and Roma were assembled here for transport to other concentration camps. Today there is a museum and a few monuments of remembrance to those transported and killed during World War II. The site and monuments are connected from the carpark by a three kilometer long trail through a beautiful forest.
