This is the managing building of Alkaloid A.D seen following the heavy summer rain. This building is located in neighborhood Avtokomanda, in Skopje, the capital of Republic of Macedonia.

Alkaloid A.D. is one of the most successful companies in the Republic of Macedonia. Alkaloid has been established in 1936 under the name "Yugoslav Factory for Alkaloids, Chemicals and Pharmaceutical Products". In 1946 the factory was transferred into state property. Launching of the galenical plant and production of finished drugs happened in 1957. Nine year later (in 1966), Alkaloid merged with "Bilka Export - Import", a company specialized in import and processing of herbal raw materials, medicinal plants and poppy seed. In 1973 Alkaloid started the production of soaps and cosmetic products and the next year, in 1974, Alkaloid merged with the factory for production of laboratory chemicals, diazo and photo materials. In 1977, Alkaloid merged with with the factory for paints and lacquers "Proleter".

In 1990, Alkaloid is registered as a joint stock company, transferred into mixed property. Five years later decision was passed for transformation of the enterprise into private property. In 1998, Alkaloid is registered as a joint stock company, transferred into private property. Alkaloid today is strongly present on Balkan states and Russian market. In April 2005, Alkaloid submitted to the UK MHRA eCTD dossiers of its first products to be placed on the UK market, in co-operation with a local partner. As a result, Alkaloid expects inspection by the MHRA GMP-Inspectorate and plans to launch its first products in the UK. This company also has the rights to independently register this products on other EU and non-EU markets.
