Another shot from within Vrelo Cave in Matka Canyon. The stalagmite in the fg is known as the Pine Cone, for obvious reasons. More information here. Vrelo Cave is about halfway down the page:

the greek word for a stalagmite is
almost the same...σταλαγμίτης....

What I like most about this photo is the lake of colour spot lights so popular in many tourist caves .... so good use of the available light to show us plenty of detail.
And the options down here for replacement "leaders" are starting to get a touch of horror about them!

Hello Chris,
There are lots of fascinating shapes here, not just the Pine Cone, but it's hard to estimate the size of what we see. The persons in the corner are too far away to provide any real sense of scale. What I really appreciate is that you didn't have that unnatural light seen in the photos in the links.

Hello Chris,

I feel as if I have stared into the open mouth of a dinosaur! The jagged stalactites and the eye-tooth shape of the stalagmite suggest horrible teeth!
Just the shadow of a figure brings the whole scene into reality!

Lovely cave capture. I usually give up on photos in the cave. It is quite challenging.
Nice effect with the light you had available. Good quality. The presence of the people adds a feeling of scale.

Hello Chris,
I have the impression that we are looking at the open sky through a cave opening. But it can also be a huge dark space in a higher part of the cave.
The jagged shapes of the rocks around the opening make for a very attractive composition.

First thought was about "jaws", Chris.
A unique earth formation, though fragile to harsh environment, beautifully taken with the dark part in great contrast.
In Israel we have only one cave like this open to public due to this reason as said: "fragile".

Hello Chris, it was the black void and the bright lights on the formations that caught my eye in the thumbnails.
Caves and the water eroded rocks have long held a fascination for me, this is an excellent shot.
Natural colours too, which I appreciate.

nice lower pov showing this natural structure and the areas ahead. I had a project to visit a giant complex of caves in central brazil but I had to choose another places to know.
