Photographer's Note

Treskavec sits high on a hill around 8 km north from Prilep. The outer buildings that were used for living quarters were damaged in a fire some 2-3 years ago but fortunately the monastery remains intact. It dates from the 12th century and it has an impressive collection of frescoes with the oldest dating from the 15th century. The new road is complete and is in good condition. Instead of a 2 hour walk up the hill it previously used to take, it is now 2 minutes! And taxis will now drive all the way up to the monastery carpark, instead of dropping you at the cemetery turnoff, as they did previously. Taken late afternoon. The green color is lichens growing on the granite rock. There is also a white cross drawn on the huge bg boulder.

I took a few shots of the frescoes without flash and loaded one in a workshop, but this one is from Wikipedia:
