‘My blue hour walk in old Prilep’
The centre of Prilep is actually the old Turkish bazaar. In the summer months it is quite lively in the evenings. See WS.
However, it is very small and apart from the many shops the main attractions are the ruins of the Charshi (Čarši) Mosque and the surviving Ottoman clock tower.
My main picture shows the remains of the Charshi (Čarši) Mosque that was built in 1475.
The building no longer has a roof and it’s mainly the minaret that is the eye-catcher.
The minaret has a height of 25 meters and is decorated with two balconies that encircle it completely.
In the WS you find the old clock tower that is sloping.
It was built in 1858 in the centre of the Old Bazaar on the site of an older wooden clock tower, which burned in a fire that was suffering the bazaar in 1854. The total height of the clock tower is 38,76 m. and it has an inclination of 114, 4 cm.
In Prilep I stayed in a small but good hotel. It was run by two ladies.
One of them spoke English and wanted to do really everything to make my stay as pleasant as possible.
The other was just the opposite and kept looking at me with a face that said 'Are you checking out soon?'
As said before, this was the city where I found the best restaurant in Macedonia. Actually the food was good everywhere in the country.
Since I don't have a single photo this year that is suitable for sending New Year's greetings, I'll just continue in my series about North Macedonia.
Nevertheless, on this day I would like to wish everyone on TE and their families and friends all the best for the new year: good health, happiness, peace and friendship.
ALL THE BEST IN 2022 !
BTW, three photos in the WS.

Hi Paul,
Beautiful series of blue hour photos. I suspect you did the same thing which I did in my recent photo: The blue hour is a very subtle effect, if kept naturally dark on some computer it feels too dark so I brighten it up a bit , but then the effect is partially lost on other screens as it may appear then too bright sometimes. So this main upload for example appears on my screen almost as if taken during the day. The sky is quite bright. I do see the evening illunimation and mon of course. I think it is one of the problems with the screens which change the brightness automatically. Recently I updated my system to Windows 11 and by default again is change settings of my computer to "save energy" meaning the scree kept changing the brightness and contrast level by itself with a darker background for example.
Anyway, these are great photos from super interesting destination.
Happy New Year!

Remnants of the mosque at blue hour, gave a special tecxture to the scene, Paul.
Different minrets on each picture, evidently Ottoman ancient hertage built monuments.
Four photos on the subject well presented.
Wish you a happy new 2022 year,
Ike

Hello Paul,
At first glance I thought you had joined Ian in Uzbekistan. But the mosques in Bukhara and Samarkand are in a much better state. However, this broken minaret rises nicely against the blue hour sky, with the moon possibly helping to brighten the street. The WS photos indicate a quiet but pleasant evening atmosphere in the small town.
Thank you for your latest comments. I was surprised to find that I had no photos from Venice. I was about to start a journey "behind the iron curtain" along with a friend in his car, so maybe I wanted to save my remaining one or two rolls of film for that journey planned to last for a couple of weeks.
I wish you too a happy and much better year in 2022.

Dag Paul,
prachtige photo in helder contrast.

A fine collection of four blue hour photos. By the way, how did you manage to post FOUR WS shots??? I noticed before that the 2 WS limit doesn't seem to apply to your uploads :-D
I like your description of your hotel too. I did spend a night in Prilep but didn't have a chance to see much of the town as I spent most of the time in the garage waiting for the guys there to procure a suitable replacement tyre for my Chevrolet (an unwanted upgrade from the economy car I had booked).
Anyway, thank you and Happy and Healthy New Year to you too!

Hi Paul
2 good photos of old Prilep. I notice that there is no weather protection on the minaret balconies.
cheers

Hello Paul, Nice all the photos - the main one and the Workshops. Here we can see the interesting minaret framed by the trees and the moon. Nice view of the square with many people.
I liked the food in Macedonia, it was very good and cheap. funny memories about two ladies.
Have a happy, healthy New Year 2022. Let's hope it will be better than 2020 and 2021.

Hello Paul, Happy New Year to you too.
An interesting and informative series from Macedonia; I knew very little about the country before viewing your pictures.
At least the minaret has survived even if the rest of the mosque is in ruins.
Very good shot with the moon nicely placed in the composition.
Excellent notes.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Paul.
It is the first time that I see photos of this place, which I had not even heard of, impressive the minaret of this ruined mosque, because although it has a good height it is not complete, so it should be higher in origin.
The other photos of the WS are very interesting, the square looks very lively.
I wish the greatest happiness in this New Year 2022, both to you and to your family.
Magnificent composition and color.
Excellent brightness and sharpness.
Good job. I love the photo.
Have a good week.
Very best regards.
Luis.
