Photographer's Note
There are some who think there is a border tripoint DE-FR-LU near the luxembourgian village of Schengen.
Well, to err is human...
It is mostly unknown that wherever a river demarks the border between Luxembourg and Germany (which applies to the Moselle, the Sauer and the Our), the complete river surface is a condominium, commonly administered by both states and belonging to both of them.
That's why at Schengen there is no triPOINT, but a triLINE of approx. 115 m between the DE-LU condominium (to the left) and France, starting on the right (German) bank and finishing at a point in the river's centre, marked by a buoy.
There is no condominium treaty between France and Luxembourg, so their common border follows Moselle's centre line from the buoy southward.
I'm standing in Luxembourg (left bank) in front of the stone marking the southern end of the condominium. The reeds in the background belong to an artificial island which hides the other half of Moselle and was constructed when erecting locks and barrage at Apach, already in France.
The Schengen treaty was signed on a ship near this triline.

Hi Sven,
An interesting photo and note. The annotations show well the complicated nature of the boundary between the three countries. I had not heard of a condominium boundary zone before. Many European borders are complex, but they seem to work out well.
