Photographer's Note

Juodkrantė is a town somewhere in the middle of the Curonian Spit of Lithuania. The name of this town means "black shore" even though it has an endless stretch of beautiful golden sandy beaches. This area is an important breeding ground for cormorants and herons.

The town has several places of interest like the Hill of witches with wooden sculptures and a sculpture park where stone sculptures lie on a 2 and a half kilometre strip of lawn along the sea. This is where most of the town's activities take place, where tourists and locals like to stroll along well maintained paths. The Amber Bay is another place to visit where lumps of amber used to be excavated. Majority of the world's amber comes from the Baltic region.

This picture was taken from the sculpture park when a white sail boat gently cruised across the sea while these two colourful moored boats lolled about in the lapping water.
