Photographer's Note

During six years, I have been travelling every month to the island of Procida. The purpose was to spend a week with my colleagues of the University of Naples to study the bird migration patterns on the nearby unhinabited island of Vivara (which is located on one of the main bird migratory routes of the Mediterranean sea).

The ferry trip from Naples was not very long, and I always enjoyed the point when the ferry manoeuvred into the Procida harbour. The sight of all those colorful houses leaning against each other on the small strip of flat land along the coast always cheered me up. Especially on sunny days (which are not rare at all, even during winter) it was a joy to smell the sea breeze and I can swear that on some occasions I could even smell the delicious coffee aroma coming out the harbour restaurants and bars....

I have many fond memories of this island and the nice people living there.

PP: cropped slightly just to have the group of houses in the middle and a nice strip of that wonderful turquoise sea. Sharpening in NeatImage. Contrast enhanced to eliminate some of the haze.
