Cascatelle di Chia

Downstream of the Colle Casale castle there are the delightful Chia waterfalls, of artificial origin as can be seen from the remains of masonry, hydraulic works that constituted a series of reservoirs that functioned as accumulation tanks for the underlying mills.
You reach these mills by continuing to descend along the Rio ditch along a path which is of evident Etruscan origins. The place is spectacular with very high walls looming on the left and imposing giants' potholes on the right. We then reach the first mill where the wheat was ground, it still retains a large part of the elevations, but the roofs and attics have collapsed. The mighty millstones remain there.
A little further on is the oil mill, which is in the worst state of conservation.
Just on the left there is a small but interesting Etruscan necropolis, with arcosolium tombs, in a partially natural underground structure located in a small dovecote. In front of them there is a stretch of Etruscan wall whose function is unknown.
From the path you can reach some spectacular sites of nearby Bomarzo, the settlement of Santa Cecilia, the Pyramid of Bomarzo, the settlement of Cagnemora.

A pleasant forest setting that looks cool and shady on a warm summers day. Nice reflections in the water and the people at right add interest. Tfs!

Hello Silvio,
There isn't much water, maybe because of the dry winter and early spring, but it looks like a very nice place anyway. The couple sitting on the rock have found a nice place for relaxing. It's a good photo with fine balance and nice exposure.

Les reflets sur l'eau sont des atouts à la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails de la cascade de Chia. La lumière fait ressortir les couleurs. Bonne soirée.

Ciao Silvio,luogo incantenvole, la portata d'acqua è molto ridotta a causa dell'inverno secco e ricorda un po' il mio Ticino quasi in secca che si puo' attraversare a piedi. Bel posticino per rinfrescarsi e cattura eccellente. Buona serata,Luciano

It's such a lovely waterfall to have a quick dip ...
and listening the sound of the waterfall cascading over the rocks.
After that ... find a good spot to sit & relax in the warm spring day.

not so much water in the falls, maybe during winter these rocks would be completely covered with water. a nice place to rest in peace and find good vibrations.
