Photographer's Note
The Mulino di Pissignano is located just below the Tempietto del Clitunno, it was driven by the driving force of the water coming from Clitunno, it worked for wheat and oil.
It was built by the Municipality of Spoleto in 1441, as an inscription on the architrave of the access door recalls, in which the name of the governor of Spoleto Amorotto Condulmer is carved, while the coats of arms of the Municipality and of the governor himself remain intact. Another Spoleto coat of arms is affixed along a wall. In 1520 the Municipality of Spoleto comes into conflict with the Brancaleoni family who had begun to build another mill on the Clitunno river, under Pissignano, despite the prohibition of Spoleto which had prevented it from the same community of Campello shortly before, evidently to profit on the exclusive of the grinding. The mill in the nineteenth century passed to the Della Genga; then it was transformed and used as an accommodation facility, currently (2020) it is abandoned, but retains many elements that recall its ancient function.

Hello Silvio,
It's funny to see how the millstone has been adapted to fit the step outside the entrance. It's a rather curious view. I like the gate and the stones on the sides and most of all the beautiful plants covering the wall.
Best regards,
Gert

Ciao Silvio,c'e' ancora la ruota del mulino, cementata nel pavimento a ricordo delle origini del villaggio, prospettiva perfetta e qualita' eccellente,ma anche un senso di abbandono e tristezza per un passato ormai lontano. Buona giornata,Luciano

Hello Silvio,
I guess they didn't want the millstone rolling around in an earthquake hence the cut to dovetail into the steps. Good sharpness and the creeping vine has established itself well on the wall at left. Tfs!

Ciao Caro Silvio,
(I have a grinding wheel, like this, in my garden.) It is a most interesting remnant of the past and very strongly positioned in your photograph, giving a clue to the use of the building.
It's a fine, close crop, everything is useful in creating a sense of place.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Took me a while to figure why the millstone placed upon the step and carved accordingly, Silvio - but assumed that it is now a decorative element to the entrance. Nice idea.
The climber plant added vivid colors to the walls.
Arrivederci,
Ike

Hi Silvio,
La meule attire le regard. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails des portes et de la meule. La lumière rehausse les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Hello Silvio, the millstone cut to fit the step, I wonder why?
A small corner of the mill, a lovely collection of colours and textures.
Accompanied by an interesting note.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Silvio,
A good composition, well balanced between the old wooden door and the wall with lots of green and reddish leaves. The details and the gentle silvery light are very appealing.

Ciao Silvio

Ciao Silvio,
I know it is the mill and mention that in your note but somehow looking at this scene, it made me think about Easter and the empty tomb which apostles found on the third day. The stone was removed from the entrance and placed aside...
Lovely composition, very good reportage,

Hi Silvio
Good display of real situation that it's a matter of time the structures will be taken over by nature. Great light, good mix of fresh colour, plenty of rustic detail and overall contrast.
Inclusion of the stone grinder is a smart choice.
Best regards
