Fountain of the Dolphins
It is located outside the walls, in Piazza della Vittoria, the center of public gardens dedicated to Robert Baden-Powell. It was realized in 1825 with the Porta Leonina, that Pope Leo XII wanted to build in place of an imposing architecture of the quarterdeck shape erected in 1297 along the medieval city walls.
Door and fountain were designed by architect Luigi Landini, a former religious, one of the last inhabitants of the hermitages of Monteluco, where he established a school of fine arts The fountain of the Dolphins in 1932 was moved to the current site when the town, proceeding to the development project the area, he obtained the gardens of the square of Linden.
The shift probably saved her from certain destruction on the day that the Porta Leonina was blown up by retreating German troops in 1944. The current gate called Porta San Gregorio or Porta Garibaldi, was rebuilt in 1947 by the architects Mario Zocca and G. B. Milani.
The lower basin, which until a few years ago housed some specimens of goldfish, is made up of plates and blocks of stone, has an octagonal shape and brings out the coat of arms of the town of Spoleto.
The middle column, placed on a triangular base, is adorned with leaf motifs and ends at the top with another bath in the basin; the sides is decorated with three large monstrous beings identified with the dolphins.
Near a humble fountain shall quench the thirst of passers-by.

Ah! You've even translated it for me. I hazarded a guess of Dolphin Fountain. A superb blue hour shot with nice warm cold colour contrasts and impeccable sharpness. Tfs!

The fountain is quite beautiful and this is enhanced by the warm light shining on it and the close view from a low angle. The view of the trees and the hill form a good background.

Silvio, that old fountain has a remarkable design. Sculptures of dolphins decorate the structure, i like the big cupola. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

How fortunate that the fountain had been relocated!
It is a beautiful piece of art and looks exceptional, from this viewpoint where the bowl resembles a giant waterlily.
The artificial light reveals the wet surfaces and the sprays of water.
I can't quite decide whether it is water droplets or stars in the sky but it all looks very romantic!

Looks like a mini version of flying saucer just landed up there! I love focusing, looking up shooting point together with its striking colour instantly attract ones eye into the whole shot. The backdrop creates good overall contrast with good interplay play of artificial and natural lightings. Excellent low light capture and tfs
