Chiesa di San Tommaso Apostolo – San Renzano - Spoleto
The small church stands in a panoramic position at the highest point of the town, overlooking the valley below.
From the type of masonry it seems to belong to the late Spoleto Romanesque, in fact, it is not mentioned in the list of the Pelosius nor in the "Rationes Decimarum" by Pietro Sella.
The first document attesting to its existence is the land register of 1401, therefore the most probable dating seems to be the second half of the XIV century.
The church is unfortunately abandoned and in conditions of serious degradation, with the roof smashed and water infiltrations in the area of the apse that are compromising the image of the Madonna, if we do not intervene as soon as possible we will find ourselves regretting another artistic heritage lost forever.TO FIND OUT MORE: CHIESA DI SAN TOMMASO APOSTOLO – SAN RENZANO DI SPOLETO (PG)
