Night out in Montecatini-Terme, a photo from Pistoia, Tuscany

Photographer's Note

Montecatini-Terme has a dozen or so spa-palaces and it is a nice tourist hotels town. From there it's a driving distance to most interesting towns in Toscana.
At nights the Via-Roma and Viale-G. Verdi around Piazza-D' Popolo become a pedestrian's road and as you see in pic. almost everybody is out on the street.
A WS on opposite direction, and take a look at the illuminated street with optic-fiber small lamps ( I'll show a close-up on one, soon).
Small "Hama" tripod used.

Ciao dear Ike,
considering the 800 ISO I have to say that your Panasonic has worked very well, reducing noise to a minimum. It 's always difficult to capture night shots with moving subjects, but here the result is good and you have done all that was possible, demonstrating your photographic experience. Nice image of this city famous for its thermal waters. Bravo!

Seeing the bright decor of the street, I thought it was a photo of Christmas past. I imagine they would be at parties, do not think it's a common decoration.
The image is very dynamic and optimal light.

Hi Ike,

You have captured well the action on the street of Montecatini-Terme. The presence of the people has an effect of scale. Using a tripod, an ISO800 and a shutter speed 1/13 seconds have a special effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

People walking in the streets at night, with city lights and movement - a daunting task for a photographer. You managed it pretty well, with good sharpness for the circumstances. I like the lively atmosphere and the amount of information. Seeing the people from behind gives us a perspective as if we were following them, curious to see what's waiting for us in front. Hi Ike

So you've been out late at night partying with the you young ones? :) The Italian nightlife is wonderful isn't it? I love the idea that you can get an icecream or go for a stroll at 11pm without it being strange. You've captured the excitement and buzz of their nightlife beautifully. I like the square framing, the good contrast and exposition. The slightly blurred people add to the dynamism.

That's glittering lights and colours teeming with live! I love the level of clarity achieved here without blowing the brightest spots. What a joyous night shot and the depth in it with the sense of moving effect by pedestrians as they add lots of sensation and vibrancy. Those static remain crisp and the colours are warm but natural. A successful low light shot at fairly slow shutter speed. Well done, TFS

A superb nocturnal shot with good sharpness and excellent repetition of the white lights and their patterns. The people add scale and animate the shot. Good to see a street sign too. They were not so common in other countries around Europe. The green vegetation adds a welcome splash of colour. Tfs.

Your main photograph really captures the carnival spirit of the evening out in the pedestrianised area!
Though taken in 2011, I'm sure you will remember just how good it felt!

It seems as if you visited this city during the end of year celebrations (apart from the summer clothes).
