Photographer's Note

Sambucheto
The small town of Sambucheto is located between Macenano and Terria. Until 1800 it was the seat of a Convent of Monache, hence the name Sambucheto (San-Monacheto). Inside the town there is the Church of Santa Caterina with a beautiful Baptismal Font and frescoes by Pierino Cesarei.
The monastery, formerly dedicated to Santa Caterina d'Alessandria, then to Santa Maria della Consolazione, is located on the slope above the Valnerina state road. Part has been transformed into a private residence, part partially and unhappily restored, but due to the greater extent it has remained in the state of fascinating ruins.
