Photographer's Note
The last photo that is placed from the fortress of Narni is obviously a complete overview of the old village, while the city has developed in the plain below and has about 18 thousand inhabitants. And since someone asked me something about the Chronicles of Narnia, I will reveal a little curiosity to you.
It is not known with certainty when the city of Narnia changed its name to Narni, but this probably happened gradually over time starting from the thirteenth century and then became effective after the French revolution, although until the end of the nineteenth century they were still in the tombstones and in official writings inscriptions with the ancient name of Narnia.
The writer Walter Hooper, who was among other things the secretary and biographer of C.S. Lewis, author of The Chronicles of Narnia, has also dealt with the origins of the name "Narnia" several times in his books as noted for example on page 306 of his co-authored book with Roger Lancelyn Green: C.S. Lewis: A Biography, published in 2002. Below is an excerpt from what Lewis said to Hooper:
"When Walter Hooper asked C.S. Lewis where he had found the word Narnia, Lewis showed him his Murray's Small Classical Atlas, ed. G.B. Grundy (1904), which he had bought when he was reading the classics with his tutor Kirkpatrick at Great Bookham [1914-1917]. On page 8 of this atlas there is a map of Italy with the inscriptions in Latin. Lewis had underlined the name of a small town called Narnia, simply because he loved the sound of that word. Narnia - or "Narni" in Italian - is located in Umbria, halfway between Rome and Assisi. "

Hello Luciano,
The view of Narni seen from the fortress is superb!
Wonderful to see all these houses with walls and roofs in almost the same colour grouped close together and surrounded by densely forested green hill slopes.
On more remote slopes we also find vineyards.
A wonderful landscape.
Splendid clear and sharp photo.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Luciano,
I did not realize that Narnia was taken from a real place. Nice view of these "islands" in green forests.

Hello Luciano,
You have captured a beautiful view of the small towns at the foot of the hills covered with trees. Looking closely at the photo I notice how the diagonals of the hill slopes are countered by the opposing diagonal of the towns, especially church towers. Such almost invisible details help to provide a harmonious structure to a photo, which obviously happened in this case.
Best regards,
Gert

Ciao Luciano,
It was me who mentioned the chronicles under the first photo. Were there more questions about it?
Interesting to know that there is some small correlation.
The names sounds interesting indeed.
Beautiful panoramic view of the town we can spot some characteristic towers which add more interest. Fantastic green setting of the town is well seen from this spot.
Beautiful work,

Ciao Caro Luciano,
This is so interesting!
I thought about the link between Narni and Narnia but just took it to be a coincidence instead of researching it! The Chronicles of Narnia were always a favourite with my children and I read the entire series to them during their childhoods!
This looks just the right sort of place where the adventures could have occurred. Of course, this was before 'The White Witch' turned the land to permanent winter!
I like how you have used greenery in the f/g for depth and character, explaining that the fortress is enclosed by woodland, with the town away in the valley.
Lovely, true colours and good dof.
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

the village is in fact an amazing piece of art. lovely these medieval houses protected by these towers and with the green landscape surrounded it so fabulously.
as a writer I had to choose the name of the capital of the imaginary country where my novel goes, but this was inspired in my town, surrounded by horizons and that was the choice (horizons) inspired in the landscape. but when I was a teen I invented many names of cities and countries in my imaginary world, with paintings of each one.
take care

Hello Luciano, a fascinating and informative note, I have learnt something today.
I can sense the age of the old village, the buildings packed so closely together. I would love to wander it’s streets.
You had a very good high viewpoint so as to look down on the village, and we have the bonus of seeing what lies further along the valley.
Excellent sharpness, a lovely view.
Kind regards, Jean
