Cappella del Collegio dei Boemi – Villa Fabri – Trevi (PG)
The Bohemian College has left a richly painted chapel at Villa Fabri by B. Cila and the Benedictine abbot Pantaleo Mayor: in the apse are depicted St. Ludmilla, St. Agnes of Bohemia, St. Adalbert Bishop of Prague, in the center of St. Wenceslas, martyr, patron of the Czech Republic and Bohemia, St. Procopius and Saints Cyril and Methodius; on his knees, Charles IV of Luxembourg, king of Bohemia and emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and the archbishop of Prague his contemporary Jan Očko z Vlašimi; in the side chapels are depicted stories of the life of St. Francis and of the life of the Madonna. The decoration of the Bohemian Chapel constitutes in Italy, after the Crypt of Montecassino, the second most important work of the school of Beuron. The Benedictine artistic school of Beuron, a Swedish artistic movement developed in the mid-nineteenth century thanks to Peter Lenz, a Benedictine monk with the name of Dom Desiderio, and inspired by Egyptian, Greek, Roman and Byzantine painting models, will bridge the art nouveau and modernity. Giovanni Battista Montini (Paul VI) in an essay on the periodical "Studium" of January 1929, defined it as "one of the best defined currents of contemporary sacred art. It is pure religious art ".

Hello Silvio,
There are obviously many unusual churches in your region. This one makes me think more of a room in a castle than of a church. The walls and ceiling are nice decorated and you had a good light coming through the large window to the left.

Gert

Hello Silvio,
A good shot of this chapel. You handled the lighting very well and it reveals the shapes, ornaments of the colours very nicely. Especially the blue parts are appealing.

Ciao caro Silvio,
This is such a sweet, little chapel, the sort that sometimes can be found in huge stately homes, especially old ones.
I like how feels so intimate. Even though there are lots of decorations and big patterns, it is not overpowering.
You have chosen a good viewpoint, to obtain this cosy atmosphere and reveal so much artistry.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Silvio
A good interior shot of the college chapel, with impeccable sharpness and a nice soft light. The decorations on the walls and ceiling are complimented by the hexagonal tiles. Tfs!

Hi Silvio,
A good view of the chapel, with excellent depth of field and sharpness. But there is too much contrast - the bright areas are burnt out and desaturated. This is always a problem in churches with strong sunlight coming through the windows. One way to deal with this is to underexpose the photo and then use software to lighten the shadows. Some cameras allow you to darken the highlights and brighten the shadows to a certain extent.

Hi Silvio
I love the natural soft colour and exposure of this interior chapel. I think you've also captured the mood with excellent detail revealing its old age really well. Excellent shot.
Best regards
