Rocca Albornoziana

Built between 1359 and 1370 at the behest of Cardinal Egidio Albornoz, on a project by Eugubino Matteo di Giovannello known as "Gattapone", it is one of the largest papal strongholds in Umbria, also used as a residence for popes and princes. There was a castle, governor of Spoleto from 1499 to 1502, the famous daughter of Pope Alexander VI, Lucrezia Borgia. The Court of Honor is magnificent, the large halls are imposing, the Camera Picta is unique, decorated with courtly love scenes. It houses the Museum of the Duchy where evidence of the golden age for the city is collected.
