Rocchetta delle Nocelle - Norcia (PG)
Near Cortigno there are the ruins of the Rocchetta delle Nocelle, the ancient Rocca Nucilli, which loom over Triponzo at the confluence of the rivers Nera and Corno. There was a final bronze route for Triponzo, witnessed by two very ancient toponyms, Castiglioni. In those places, according to an old tradition, the Colantoni family was born who moved to Collazzoni di Preci and gave that castle its name. In the reforms of the town of Norcia we find the appointment of castellans for Rocca Nucilli, Triponzo and Belforte dated 3 July 1437. At the end of one of the many wars between Spoleto and Norcia, in 1454, Pope Niccolò V confirmed Rocca Nocelle, together with Triponzo and Belforte, ai nursini.
After the site was abandoned as a fortified place it became a refuge for brigands; tired of the constant harassment, the inhabitants of the nearby baskets joined together and destroyed the Rocchetta, killing all the brigands, the church bells were transported to nearby Poggio di Croce.
