Silvio yesterday posted a photo from Montefalco and reminded me of my brief visit to this town as well. It is not very large and does not offer great attractions, but its square is considered one of the most beautiful in Umbria and I will show you a good part of it in this overview. Montefalco is an Italian town of about 5500 inhabitants in the province of Perugia in Umbria. Reference point of the wine region where Sagrantino di Montefalco and Montefalco rosso are produced, it is part of the club of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Montefalco, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, is located on top of a hill overlooking the plain of the Topino and Clitunno rivers. Because of this favorable panoramic position, since 1568 it has been given the nickname "Railing of Umbria". From here, on clear days, from various viewpoints it is possible to admire a 360 ° panorama that sweeps across the entire valley between Perugia and Spoleto, from the slopes of the Sub-Apennines to those of the Martani Mountains.

Silvio ha postato ieri una foto da Montefalco e mi ha fatto ricordare della mia breve visita anche a questo comune. Non è molto grande e non offre grandi attrattive, ma la sua piazza è considerata una delle piu' belle dell'Umbria e ve ne mostro una buona parte in questa panoramica. Montefalco è un comune italiano di circa 5500 abitanti della provincia di Perugia in Umbria. Punto di riferimento della regione vinicola in cui si producono il Sagrantino di Montefalco e il Montefalco rosso, fa parte del club dei Borghi più belli d'Italia. Montefalco, circondato da vigneti e uliveti, è situato in cima a una collina che domina la pianura dei fiumi Topino e Clitunno. Per questa favorevole posizione panoramica, dal 1568 gli è stato attribuito l'appellativo di "Ringhiera dell'Umbria". Da qui, nelle giornate più limpide, da vari punti belvedere è possibile ammirare un panorama a 360° che spazia per l'intera vallata tra Perugia e Spoleto, dai versanti del Subappennino a quelli dei Monti Martani.

It is a beautiful square indeed. Nice wide capture although TrekEarth is not well designed to display panoramic photos but this wide scene allows us to better appreciate the scale of the square.

A very pretty square with terraces on at least three of its sides.
Is the red building on the right a church?
Fortunately, the square appears to be traffic-free and has not become a parking lot.
It should be nice to enjoy a local wine at one of these tables.

The tight panorama crop enhanced the width of this piazza. Though an extra sky space would be useful, in my humble opinion.
Anyway, an interesting note from this small town.

A wonderful note about this town and its surroundings, which highlights this beautiful square by imagining its surroundings, without having lavish buildings, all of them are in harmony, hence the charm that it transmits in addition to its large size for a not so large population.
