Church of San Francesco - Giano dell’Umbria
The monumental complex of San Francesco is located in the center of Giano dell’Umbria, close to the city walls at the entrance to the castle.
Built in the second half of the 13th century, it was then the subject of numerous renovations, which however did not completely compromise the interpretation of the primitive church.
Initially the plan followed exactly the directives expressed by the Franciscan rule with a single nave, trussed roof and extreme decorative simplicity. This rigor was altered in the seventeenth century, when the perimeter walls were raised and the roof rebuilt, which was then hidden by a brick vault in 1909.
The exterior, in rose-colored ashlars with a gabled roof, has a raised facade with respect to the original and decorated with a buffered oculus and a portal with a recess.

lepe fasade i detalji, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom, perspektivom i dobrim tekstom.
Dobar rad sa lepim fotografijama u radionici.
Lepa stara Crkva i freske.

A nice composition and a very sharp photo showing us the façade of this very plain but beautiful medieval church. The WS show us two of the originally beautiful but sadly faded wall paintings.

Tu as eu une bonne idée d'utiliser l'arche pour cadrer l'église. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails de l'église San Francesco. La lumière met en valeur les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Hello Silvio, your trademark, using an arch to frame a scene.
A very plain exterior of the old church, but thankfully you share some of the artwork from within.
Such a pity that the frescoes have suffered so badly, yet we can still get a reasonable impression of the work.

very simple architecture but you have composed it perfectly with the arched passage framing the buildings optimally. I can see you have selected the ideal angle here. The resulting geometry is very attractive. The other advantage was a great light which well emphasized the surface of the building on the left.

Hello Silvio,
In the WS we can enjoy the view of the ancient murals. The colours still shine on one of both.
Your main photo is excellently framed by the gate.
I wonder what the round window used to look like. Was there a sculpture or was it really a window?

The fg arch makes a great frame for the bg buildings. Good sharpness and a nice contrast between light and shade between the left and centre. Tfs!

Uma beleza de composição e enquadramento. A luz lateral realçou a beleza da parede de pedra e as janelas verdes. Adorei este detalhe. Gosto de ver estas janelas verdes e as paredes ocre ou de pedra aí na Itália. Belo trabalho meu amigo. Gostei também dos belos afrescos nos WS!

Magnificent composition framing the church and the corner of the house within the arch, gives a lot of charm to the sober buildings.
