Church of San Michele arcangelo - Eggi - Spoleto

The church, already dedicated, like others, to Sant’Angelo, is located next to the entrance to the walled village, probably predating the construction of the fortifications. In fact, the primitive building should have been built in the 12th century, as the ashlars masonry still partially visible on the left of the portal would indicate.
In the fifteenth century the church underwent a new renovation and expansion, reliably varying the orientation from the original. It was completely frescoed, especially in the first half of the century, by local painters including the so-called "Maestro di Eggi", very industrious in the Spoleto area and in the Nera Valley, who left his most significant works here.

Hello Silvio,
Here is another fine church so full of paintings that it looks like an art gallery. The red candle holders contribute to the colourful impression made by the art. There were plenty of light sources which enabled you to a good exposure.

This is a beautiful, church interior!
Every surface seems to be emblazoned with religious scenes or motifs. It would have been amazing for the original congregation, who would not have been able to read but could get the information from the many pictures.
The light is fine for you to obtain this fine exposure.

Beautiful presentation of this interesting interior. There is plenty of light inside which allows us to appreciate all details of paintings. Nice angle with a pleasant resulting perspective.
I really like how the walls have so many preserved paintings all over them. It must have been such a colorful place before it was damaged!

Hello Silvio, a church that is obviously in use, as compared with many interiors of churches that you have shared with us in the past.
From this angle we are able to see so many of the frescoes, and the other decorations.
