Photographer's Note

Abbey of San Felice di Narco
Finally restored and reopened after the 2016 earthquake.
An admirable example of Spoleto Romanesque architecture, with the adjoining small monastery, attributable to the 15th and 16th centuries, is located near Castel San Felice, a small fortified village overlooking the valley of the Nera river. The current building was built in the last years of the 12th century to reconstruct a pre-existing one built by the Benedictines on the tomb of a holy hermit from Syria after the reclamation of the surrounding marshes, as shown by one of the two Legendaries (or Legendaries of the Cathedral), large manuscript and illuminated volumes, coming from this abbey and now preserved in the Diocesan Archives of Spoleto together with a third legendary one coming from the church of San Brizio, near Spoleto.
