Baiano di Spoleto
The old castle , now a ruin , was built in 1455 on the granting of Spoleto which allowed the inhabitants of the villa underlying the right to fortify to thank them for their unquestioned loyalty .
The castle dominates the plain below Marroggia irrigated , fertile teritory rich waters and mills, already densely populated since ancient times . The proximity to the city and the beautiful setting environment has meant that the large flat area was chosen order to set up mansions .
Among the most conspicuous is Jealous Villa (now Leonetti ) , built between the fifteenth and the sixteenth century , richly decorated and aredata , in one room there are frescoes of the Story of Noah's Ark (1572) Lo Spanish. We slept in Galileo Galilei to Rome. Fuoori from the large , fenced garden are dli buildings , now owned Merini destinatio the conduct of the vast agricultural estate.
The majority of the population is now concentrated in the underlying Madonna di Baiano , polpolosa fraction of the town of Spoleto, situated on a plain 324 meters above sea level .
This small town has experienced rapid development in the twentieth century around the local military establishment ammunition terrestrial already risen to the national news for being home to dismantling of the Italian anti-personnel mines and the subject of an accidental explosion April 10, 2005 .
The village is served by the railway station " Baiano di Spoleto " placed on the Rome- Ancona.
