Photographer's Note

Pienza's one of those little places that seems to get far more attention that it should warrant. It's a tiny town, easily walkable in a few minutes. There are a few good historical sites, but not overwhelmingly so. It's beautiful, but so is most of Tuscany.

Yet it was still one of my favorite places in Italy. I don't know if it's that we largely had the place to ourselves after getting there so late in the afternoon, or if it was the magical Tuscan light, or the charming quaintness of the town, but it was my favorite part of Tuscany other than Florence. My wife preferred nearby Montepulciano, but my choice was Pienza.

Sorry for the pun in the title. I couldn't resist... :)
