Duomo by Brunelleschi, a photo from Florence, Tuscany

Photographer's Note

This is an interesting view of the famous Duomo di Firenze designed by Brunelleschi. As you walk out of Firenze's train station, it will probably be one of the first thing you see. It took about 146 years to build this masterpiece of architecture, but as you can see it is worth it.

I like very much this point of view as it is possible to see the Duomo, the tower and the baptistry. The black and white puts emphasis on the texture of the cathedral (white with strong dark lines).

Cette photographie montre un point de vue intéressant du célèbre Duomo di Firenze conçue par Brunelleschi. Comme vous sortez de la garre, le traffic piétonier risque de vous y conduire assez rapidement. Il fallu environ 146 ans pour construire cette merveille architecturale, mais comme vous pouvez le constater, ça en vallait la peine.

J'aime beaucoup ce point de vue qui permet d'observer le dôme, le campanile et le baptistère. Les tons noirs et blancs mettent l'emphase sur la texture de la cathedrale (blanche avec des lignes sombres).

Very nice photo. I like the B&W - gives it that "old world" feel. Nice detail and contrast. There is so much to look at!!

I must say that this picture is very busy too ;-). I wonder how this would look like in colour; maybee best thing to put it in b&w. I have the impression that the image is somewhat tilted to the right, or are my eyes deceiving me here (one never knows with these old buildings; they easily tend to lean over)? Thanks for showing.

Nice PoV Simon, that works well in B&W as it strips away some of the competition and reveals the form and structure of the subject.
I've tried a workshop to try and restrict the impact of the foreground and thenewer building on the left as well as correcting the converging verticals etc.

C'est très géométrique comme vue! La photo ne rend pas beaucoup l'effet de 3D de la vue ce qui crée une photo assez particulière que j'aime bien où on a l'impression que les bâtiments ont été collé l'un par dessus l'autre.
Il y a quelques distortions dans l'image mais contenue de l'énorme présence des bâtiments ça aurait été dur à éviter.

C'est tellement beau l'Europe! Cette architecture si riche qu'on ne retrouve que très peu ici... Le souci des détails, grandiose! De quoi a l'air cette photo en couleurs??

Une photo que j'ai toujours beaucoup aimée, d'autant plus que je suis un peu jalouse du point de vue choisi. Ce coin de Florence est tellement dense que ce n'est pas facile d'avoir un peu de perspective.

Le choix du noir et blanc est judicieux; ça évite l'effet un peu trop bonbon du Duomo (normalement rose et vert pâle) et ça met l'accent sur l'incroyable architecture.

Voici du bon travail. Piqué sur toute la longueur et dof; Le détail architectural me plait bien.
Distordu mais pas vraiment génant, la perspective est là.
