Photographer's Note
A view of the Ponte Vecchio and the River Arno from an upper floor of the Uffizi Gallery.
Please open in a new tab for the large version.
"The Ponte Vecchio, a medieval stone closed-spandrel segmental arch bridge. Noted for the shops built along it, building such shops on such bridges was once a common practice.
Butchers, tanners and farmers initially occupied the shops; the present tenants are jewellers, art dealers and souvenir sellers."
Thanks for looking.

Hello Jean,
There are lots of beautiful views inside the Uffizi gallery, but obviously also through the windows. The Ponte Vecchio doesn't look quite as touristy from this side. With some imagination I can see it like it may have been hundreds of years ago. Among the beauties of this view are the zigzagging brick roofs, the several bridges west of the old bridge and the reflections in the river. The well saturated colours are very nice and the larger version reveals a very good sharpness.
Maybe you were interrupted by something when you wrote the title?
Kind regards,
Gert

Good evening Jean,
Wonderful sight of the fampous bridge in Firenze. There are several bridges crossing the Arno through town, but this one gained it reputation due to its unique design adn purpose from old times when a plague hit Europe.
Colorful outcome, vividly presented.

Ike

Hi Jean, this is a beautiful view of Ponte Vecchio from the top of Uffizi, not an usual choice of POV, so the view is different and original,i like the endless perspective on the Arno river on the top! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Jean,
I can't recall ever having seen a photo taken from such a point of view.
You were not allowed to take pictures of the artworks in the museum, but luckily you were allowed to photograph through the open window. One more reason to visit the Uffizi :)
From there you could also see the many visitors on the bridge.
Excellent city view. Beautiful reflections.
Best regards, Paul

Hello, Jean, beautiful view from the Uffizi Gallery. We see many bridges over Arno, also the Vasari Corridor - the secret passage of Medici is well visible.
Fantastic composition.
Best regards MAlgo
The Vasari Corridor is an elevated enclosed passageway connecting the Palazzo Vecchio with the Palazzo Pitti. its full length is around a kilometre.

Hi Jean
for some reason i havn't seen this pov before, its elevated as you say in the note. I like it. I remember this place being very overly touristy, selling basically crap! what a shame.

Hello Jean,
Although there are many photographs of the Ponte Vecchio, there are few taken from such an elevated viewpoint. Besides anchoring the f/g with the textured, tiled roof, and detailing the Ponte Vechio, you have been able to capture and reveal a whole series of other bridges which cross the Arno.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Jean,
This is bringing back souvenors of my visit of Florence in March 2018. I appreciate the reflections on the water. The point of view is showing details of the famous Ponte Vecchio and of the other bridges. The light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Jean.
Wonderful view of the Arno and its bridges, highlighting the famous "Ponte Vecchio" in the foreground, along with the beautiful facades on both banks of the river.
Good perspective of the image, very pleasing to the eye.
Colour, sharpness and luminosity are effectively managed.
Very good composition, magnificent presentation.
Have a good weekend.
Warm greetings.
Luis.
P.S. That kind of tube that you see to the right of my last post, is a very modern building, dedicated as an Auditorium and cultural center, I plan to upload it to the Gallery soon.
