Photographer's Note
Hello Everyone,
Please open in a New Tab for greater clarity.
This is the Ponte Santa Trista (Holy Trinity Bridge) in Florence. It is one of many bridges crossing the Arno and was photographed from the Ponte Vecchio. (It was fun to capture some canoeists practicing their sport.)
This was my closer shot, I will add a longer range shot, showing all the arches, as my worksop.
In addition to the graceful, flattened arches that span the river (which some attribute to Michelangelo), the bridge is also decorated with statues of the Four Seasons, which appear at each corner of the bridge.
The first bridge in this location was built in 1252; however, the bridge as it appears today is based on the bridge built by Bartolomeo Ammannati from 1567-70. Like all the other bridges in Florence, except for the Ponte Vecchio, Ponte Santa Trìnita was destroyed by German forces in 1944. Some of the stones from the original bridge were recovered from the Arno, and an exact replica was built using these stones along with stones specially quarried from the Boboli gardens.
The statues (or most of the parts) were also recovered from the Arno after the demolition of the bridge in 1944 and were eventually returned to their original places. - Florence-on-Line
My warm regards, Bev :-)

Hi Bev,
I appreciate the reflections on the water. The point of view is showing the details of Santa Trinita bridge in Florence. The light is giving good colors rendering. Have a nice day.

Hello Bev
I like both images. But the workshop gives a better overall view. Amazing how these bridges stand the test of time. Especially considering the large area of the arch. Beautiful image.

Hello Beverley,
There are 9 bridges across the Arno within the Firenze town zone, this specific one is the first west of the famous Ponte-Vecchio. Very similar in style to the next one, Ponte-alla-Carraia which is shown beyond. Located at 43.7703, 11.2472 on the map.
A beautiful take, a rower was passing on the far side bank.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hello Bev,
Both photos are very good, but if I would necessarily have to choose one of them I would probably opt for the WS. What luck that I can have them both! In the main photo there was a slight pity that you cut off the top of the dome to the left. In the WS we get the entire dome, plus a tower closer to us and slightly nicer reflections.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Bev,
Indeed Italy has very heavy suffered during the war between Germans and English and American troops, many bridges were destroyed in 1944.
But your picture makes everything perfect, we see almost two bridges.
Reflections are pleasant o look at.
Two kayakers are very small, are a good for the scale.
Nice depth and perspective picture.
Have a nice Easter weekend,
John.

Hello Beverley,
You get to know us some of the other bridges in Florence.
Both pictures are excellent.
A small detail on your main photo: it's a pity that the top of the dome is missing.
But the view under the first bridge with the reflection of the second is gorgeous.
Also nice is that we see a kayaker under each arch.
Certainly good to see lesser known views of this wonderful city.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Bev
Those darned Nazis! They destroyed some centuries old bridges in Verona too! But the Italians rebuilt them there too. And exact replicas no less! The kayaker under the left arch makes a fine focal point. Good sharpness & colour too. Tfs!

Hi Bev,
great shots from your archives. I still have to visit Florence yet, but when will it be possible at all?
Great angle through two bridges and their vivid reflections. Great level of detail, well enhanced with appropriate processing.
My only regret is having the white red dome a bit too tight truncated, but one cannot have everything.
Excellent work,
M

BEV
a beautiful view of this bridge, watching this we can think the river has much water and it is imposing, but it is an illusion caused by the small dams.
take care

Not one row of arches to look through and capture their reflections, but two. Good details and colours and the boatsmen on the river give the scale. A pleasant landscape photo

Hello Bev,
The bridges are very charming and the reflections are beautiful. I am confused about one thing, though. This closer bridge seems to be running right into a building, is that an optical illusion?
Regards,
MT
