Photographer's Note
The original façade of the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, designed by Arnolfo di Cambio and usually attributed to Giotto, was actually begun twenty years after Giotto's death.
This original façade was only completed in its lower portion and then left unfinished. It was dismantled in 1587-1588 by the Medici court architect Bernardo Buontalenti, as it appeared totally outmoded in Renaissance times. Some of the original sculptures are on display in the Museum Opera del Duomo, behind the cathedral. Others are now in the Berlin Museum and in the Louvre.
The competition for a new façade turned into a huge corruption scandal. The wooden model for the façade of Buontalenti is on display in the Museum Opera del Duomo. A few new designs had been proposed in later years but the models (of Giovanni Antonio Dosio, Giovanni de' Medici with Alessandro Pieroni and Giambologna) were not accepted. The façade was then left bare until the 19th century.

Hi Malgorzata,
a very original and creative POV and cut of the wonderful architecutre you chose here! Very well done showing beautiful details on two levels. I am not so sure about your re-posting, I prefere the original version without the white framing and with more details of the beautiful façade. But htat is of course only a subjective opinion...
Have a nice day

Ciao Malgorzata,
un taglio strettissimo che esalta la bellezza e la raffinatezza di quest'architettura e che al tempo stesso traduce in grafica un'elemento architettonico.
I contrasti di colore, la luce e la qualità sono eccellenti.

Ciao cara Malgorzata
I knew this was Florence even before reading it. You have captured the essence of Florence so expertly in this close-up. I love the details, the contrasts and of course the vibrant colours. The square framing is very attractive and allows us to concentrate on this remarkable architecture. Thanks for your Note and for sharing.

Ciao dear Malgorzata,
impressive the genial way with which you have composed this image, remembers me the paintings in metaphysical style. To photograph one of the monuments more photographed of Italy with originality is never easy, but you with this image have shown to be a good observer and an excellent photographer. Congratulations!
Ciao, have a nice evening!

Bonjour Malgorzata,
voici une photo au cadrage pour le moins suprement, il crée pas mal de relief et est dépourvu de toute distorsion. Une photo nette parfaitement exposée en plus.

Hello Malgorzata
Its not easy to get a unique view & a fresh one from Firenze & you've done just that! I really like how you have juxtaposed the structure in the FG with the prominent statue with the half dome in the BG. Well composed & taken shot indeed!

Hi Malgorzata,
I like much this combination, another way of presenting an architecture. Architectures are often very rich and we only keep of it finally a simplified image. This kind of shots allows to interest us on details.
Well done, the framing is good according to me, I like it.
A nice shot of the nice Duomo of Firenze.

Hello Malgorzata,
You profited here from a very beautiful exposure to the light to take the photograph of this architectural detail full with smoothness. I like much the quality of the image and clearness. Your choice of framing with this beautiful blue sky and this part of the dome gives also an appreciable contrast of colors. Pretty and interesting glance, thank you Malgorzata.
With all my friendships and an excellent WE,
