The towers of the "Balio", a photo from Trapani, Sicily

Photographer's Note

Un château fut construit par les Normands sur un rocher à l'extrémité sud-est de la montagne d'Erice , sur les ruines d'un ancien sanctuaire . Les tours du "Balio" doivent leur nom au fait qu'y résidait avec sa court le magistrat qui représentait le roi .
Détruites au 15ème siècle , elles furent reconstruites à la fin du 19ème siècle à l'initiative d'un entrepreneur de Trapani , le Comte Agostino Pepoli . Il fit également réaliser le jardin à l'anglaise qui entoure le château .

Hi Denis,
This is a very impressive fortress and a good picture, without any modern details at all. This could have been the exact view the Normands had, many years ago. Very attractive colours and a well composed picture.

Hello Denis,
I really like Sicily in your lens - it looks a little bit like Portugal with this kind of architecture. You obviously enjoyed excellent weather and the light had been in abundance. The cloud coming from left adds some dynamism to the scene.
