Piazza Pretoria detta anche Piazza della Vergogna, si trova sul limite del quartiere Kalsa a pochi metri dai Quattro Canti, centro esatto della città storica di Palermo.rnNel 1573 il senato palermitano acquistò la fontana con l'intenzione di collocarla nella piazza.rnE' popolarmente nota come la "Fontana della Vergogna"; il nomignolo nascerebbe dalla presenza in passato di un convento di monache di clausura, che stizzite dai genitali delle statue, le evirarono.rnrnPretoria Square known as "Square of Shame" and is located on the edge of the district of Kalsa a few meters from the "Four Songs", exact center of the historic city of Palermo.rnIn 1573 the senate of Palermo purchased the fountain with the intention to place it in the square.rnThe fountain if popularly knows as "Fountain of Shame"; the nickname would be born from the presence in the past of a convent of cloistered nuns, that stigmatized by the genitals of the statues, emasculated them.
