Photographer's Note

Cefalù is despite its size one of the most visited points by tourists and travelers who come to Sicily for holidays. Its landscape of small fishing port on the peaceful Tyrrhenian is often a camping for the routes through the island, and its long beaches of golden sand that extend towards the bays of Aranciotto and Settefrati.

The walls still visible in front of the sea belong to the Hellenistic-Roman period. The Arabs conquered the Byzantine settlement, which governed it until the beginning of the 11th century, when the Normans reconquered Sicily. The signs of Norman domination are so numerous that it is no accident that Cefalu is called the "Norman citadel". The most important building is undoubtedly the cathedral, from the beginning of the 12th century.

The fishing district of Cefalù, with its old houses crowded in front of the port, is very picturesque.

The long beach of fine sand that extends in front of it, is considered one of the most beautiful on the north coast.

Cefalú es pese a su tamaño uno de los puntos más visitados por los turistas y viajeros que vienen de vacaciones a Sicilia. Su paisaje de pequeño puerto pesquero sobre el apacible Tirreno es a menudo campamento para las rutas por la isla, y sus largas playas de arena dorada que se extienden hacia las bahías de Aranciotto y de Settefrati.

Al período helenístico-romano pertenecen las murallas aún visibles frente al mar. Los árabes conquistaron el asentamiento bizantino, que la gobernaron hasta el inicio del siglo XI, cuando los Normandos reconquistan Sicilia. Los signos de la dominación normanda son tan numerosos que no es casual que Cefalu sea llamada la “ciudadela normanda”. El edificio más importante es sin duda la catedral, del inicio del siglo XII.

El barrio de pescadores de Cefalú, con sus viejas casas apiñadas frente al puerto, resulta muy pintoresco.

La extensa playa de arena fina que se extiende delante del mismo, esta considerada como una de las mas bellas de la costa norte.

A beautiful view over the water towards the town, which stands out so well in this sunlight from the rocks in the background. Also the reflections in the water are wonderful and the people, some of them bathing in the calm water, add a lovely and peaceful mood. Great shot!

Hello Luis,
You were in Cefalù just nine days before me, but you had so much nicer weather. It really means a lot to a photo, at least to this kind of picture with holidaying people enjoying the beach and the water. The town looks more impressive in this photo than in reality, and the steep La Rocca is magnificent. You captured the reflections in the water beautifully, and it is generally a very well taken photo with excellent colours and light.

Hello Luis, We have seen some views from Cefalu not long time ago. This is a bit different composition. Nice view of the beach and the houses so close to the sea. Are there no big waves?

La plage est réduite, mais la vue est très belle sous cette lumière éclaboussant avec bonheur les maisons bordant la plage.
Je regarde également avec intérêt cette montagne en arrière-plan d'une forme intéressante.

Quite a feast of colour there and a picturesque seaview bathed in warm light, well captured & much detail to take from top to bottom. The old fashioned fishing village fits the frame as a strong eye pointer, the bathers and water play are another beautiful elements blended together. An attractive location well taken, Congrats
