Photographer's Note
I know that you cannot hear the thunder rumbling in the background, but you can see the dark clouds gathering over the mountains.Fortunately rain did not follow!
This is the Greek Theatre in Taormina.
"The second largest ancient theatre in Sicily after the one in Syracuse.Originally built in the Hellenistic age [3rd century BC] and was almost entirely rebuilt by the Romans in the 2nd century AD."
Built on a hill, standing at the top, there are wonderful views across the town and countryside.

Hello Jean,
Your point of view gives a good idea as to the dimensions of this impressive amphitheatre helped by the presence of the people. I like very much the lighting and the excellent detail to be observed.

Hello Jean,
This is a very fine composition with excellent colours and clarity. It is informative, as it gives us a good view of the theatre, and the dark clouds contrast very nicely with the bright and sunny lower part. The two persons in bright shirts are perfectly included. I would say they are necessary for the composition from the colours, life and dimensions they add.

Gert

Hello Jean
An interesting and effective composition, with good timing too to include the bright red t-shirted fellow in the corner. Those figures make all the difference in this shot. I know many people wait patiently for the scene to be emptied of humans, but I like to see them well placed like this. They help to demonstrate the scale of things, too. I also like the contrast of the sunlit stadium and the threatening sky. Really well done.

Andrew

Hi Jean
as you said, we can't hear the thunder, but its easily imagined.
the sky is actually trying really hard to compete with the Theatre, not sure which one is winning :)
both are quite deserving of the title.
excellent shot of ancient architecture and atmosphere.
cheers

Hello Jean
Excellent sharpness with a fine high pov and the dark ominoius clouds in the bg adding mood. They contrast well against the brightly lit fg. Good colour and saturation. A nice contrast in textures between the ancient stonework and more modern reconstructed parts of the theatre. Tfs!

Even with the coming thunderstorm those brave tourist keeps on snapping pictures. I like the dark clouds in the background and with the sun shinning on this ruins. Good combination of old and modern seats for the arena, is it being used for concerts? Sharp details. Well done, tfs.

Hello Jean,
An interesting note and a beautiful photograph to accompany it!
Your composition here is excellent and this ancient amphitheatre simply glows beneath that dark and threatening sky. The inclusion of the two tourists, one dressed in bright red, adds greatly to the fine composition as they direct us to the pathway leading to the "vomitory" (just learned that word yesterday - it's a passageway leading to different levels or tiers in an amphitheatre - just imagine telling someone you were having some pargetting done in your vomitory!).
Gorgeous light and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Jean,
your composition is unusual and interesting, the ancient theatre has preserved its gracefulness even in its current condition and by giving so much space to the stormy sly you've added to its presentation fascinating atmosphere. I like the people's presence, they look interested in the sight we are looking at too, their colours and movement add vividness. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,
Ourania
