Photographer's Note

Dear friends of TE,
Given the incessant rain Sunday took place in our meeting, we have often sought refuge in places indoors, here we are inside the Palace of the Elephants, the city hall, where was exposed this magnificent "Carretto Siciliano".

Unfortunately we were not prepared to shoot indoors, the light was quite weak, I had to push the ISO sensitivity to 1600, and I fear that the quality of the image has suffered. I hope you like this magnificent decorations.

The Sicilian Carretto (in Sicilian carrettu) is half horse-drawn carriage used for the goods were in use throughout the Sicilian from the nineteenth century until the second half of the twentieth century, when it became obsolete because of the increasing motorization of labor in the countryside. Built with different grades of wood, often decorated by carvings bucolic and brightly painted decorations, today has become the target of the crafts and one of the symbols of iconography Sicilian folk.
