Photographer's Note
We left the beach at Cala Goloritze by boat and stopped here to pick up some rock climbers. The sun was illuminating the fisherman’s umbrella, which seemed to have its own light source. Imagine the fisherman’s astonishment when everyone on the boat grabbed their camera and started taking photos of him. Probably to this day he has no idea why he attracted so much attention. Zoomed in shot in the WS

Hi Kath,
That colourful umbrella does it all. Even in the thumbnail is was an eyecatcher.
Warm colours on the rocks and perfect detail on them. Blue sky is a bit soft, making it a bit darker would create a more powerful image.
But accent is lying in the foreground and that is an excellent exposed are...perfect.

Hello Kath,
une photo qui a de la profondeur, de la vie et des couleurs.
Un coin tranquille pour les pêcheurs sauf quand il grouille de photographes.

Hi Kath,
Very nice shot again. I love the way the light goes through the colourful umbrella. Good POV also and only the fishing stick reminds us water is not so far. Excellent sharpness as well!
Good job!

Hi Kath.
Better than the WS and also amazing light and exposure. That light gives to the picture a very good and enjoyable perspective.
Well done.

Hi Kath
The lighting here gives excellent contrast and definition of the rock surface and your POV is really dramatic. Compositionally this is really strong, with the coloured umbrella well placed as an anchor for the eye.

I prefer this shot above the WS. Here we have a piece of sky, what makes the photo more beautiful.

Hi Kath,
I really enjoy the inclusion of people in the last two of your pictures. And the umbrella shot against the light is superb. What I lack a little bit though is that you could see the fisherman but no water. But I understand that this could be very difficult when passing qickly on a boat and the fisherman is pretty high above you. Have a nice week!
Cheers,
Ulf

Hello Kath -
Good observation. The lighting is just perfect and your exposure is spot on. I looked at the WS image and the background seems like to be different locales rather than a change of perspective or the slight moving of the boat. I like both images, though this one at first look looked like there was a moon rise just beyond the background but a second look confirms that it was just more mountains. The colorful umbrella does make the image - it gives just a bit of pop. Well done.
Thank you for sharing

Hi Kath - the umbrella is certainly eye catching, in some ways it looks so out of place against the dramatic backdrop of rocks, but it does add a really bright splash of contrasting colour to the natural colours of the area. The light in the foreground is really good too.

Hi Kath,
Yes, he's probably still shaking his head over the crazy tourists. The light is great as are the clouds drifting alone the mountain. You've captured excellent detail throughout and the Ws add great detail. I do long for a glimpse of the water into which his line is cadst.

Hi Kath
Nice capture of this multi coloured umbrella; and one that really stands out from the background. The light is well controlled, as looking upwards would have increased the light intensity quite significantly. I'm not sure about the fisherman; is he bemused or angry? Either way, a good capture and nice detail in the rocks.

Hi Kath
I have no idea why he attracted you, I don`t find him a very handsome man ;). And the mermaid has dissapeared...:(
Nevertheless very funny shot and great composition of fisherman against the rocks.
Have a nice day.

Hi Kath,
The colorful umbrella creates a beautiful contrast on this majestic landscape. The fisherman does have a puzzled look. Well presented with good tech details. Best wishes. Danilo

Like luky I prefer this to the ws. Not only does the sky enlighten the shot but, and that is also an argument, the fisherman does better in this one. He has a rather unintelligent look in the clos-uo :~))!

Hi, Kath. The rainbow umbrella provides excellent contrast with the light-coloured rocks in the background. It's funny to see how the rock gets gradually lighter the higher you go. In the top left they even seem to vanish in a kind of light mist. I also like the way the fisherman is staring at you.

Hi Kath
I like this one a lot...the umbrella does grab initial attention. But I note with interest the fisherman waiting for a catch & the texture of the rocks...I particularly like the triangle of blue sky of the top left formed by the diagonal of the rock line. Very nice!

A well spotted photo opportunity, Kath, and well composed too. Your POV in this one is much better than the WS as it positions the splash of colour from the umbrella perfectly in your frame. Good DOF and sharpness. Whilst it is obvious from this POV why it would have attracted the photographers in your boat, I can imagine that the fisherman would have no idea why everyone was pointing their cameras at him. Cheers . . . David

Hi Kath,
I find umbrellas very photogenic... and this one is even more particular... for the colours. It's nice and also funny feeling because you've cropped out the sea, so the figure of the fisherman seems so strange - funny there on the rocks.
Have a nice day,
Tomi

Olá Kath, it's nice to see the fisherman but as your title suggests, his umbrella is what attract more in this image. I wonder if that's what attracted the other photographers as well. The low POV provided a beautiful light effect on the umbrella's colors that indeed seems as if it was a lamp that is turned on. Apart that, the rock scenery is quite enjoyable and it is understandable why the rock climbers came to this place. On the ws image is fun to see the fisherman expression mentioned in the note, which isn't noticeble in this one. Strangely, it seems as if you were on a higher pov on that one, but it must be an optical illusion...

Hi Kath,
Stunning! The sharpness and the contrast given by the vivid colors of the umbrella impressed me immediately, but I see more in it - the pov is fabulous and the light is almost unreal, with that brightness on the shadowed areas, the amazing sharpness and the feeing that it was shot almost at the level of the fisherman.
Much inspired work, congratulations.
