Optimist, a photo from Milan, Lombardia

A desaturated view of the Idroscalo Park, the artifical lake close to the Linate Airport in a eastern suburb of the city.
The original one

A couple of parent were waiting the children that was sailing with a small Optimist Class, a boat with a flat bow, single crew.
Optimists are among the only boats well-suited for complete beginners to intermediate sailors between the ages of 7 and 15.

The image was took the 2 of March, one week ago, when we had a 48 hours of Summer...today i think that the Idroscale Lake is empty, thanks to a fabolous rainy day, with a bit of fog, tons of humidity and 6°.

Milano is a city withous big rivers, without sea, without natural lakes.
But it's a city with one of the national higher number of owner of ships and boats, with the higher number of divers and not few of the most famous Italian sailors were born in Milan, as Giovanni Soldini.

The right pp and effect to have this most special result from the park with the small sailors P.

...but you have beautiful lakes very close to you full of yachts and speed boats... i was in como yesterday.. the weather was terrible of course but it was still beautiful... and yes, that 48hrs of summer was superb compared to the last few days (i walked around the city center for hours taking pictures then)...

this is a nice picture paolo, but i think i like the original version better...

The original one is beautiful also, but this one with burnt white and charcoal black is really distinctive. The Optimists are charming elements. Compo is perfect. It is interesting to read that without big rivers, lakes nor sea, there are lots of boats and sailors.

Interesting effect Paolo. Was it with the threshold tool? I quite like the result but have to go with the colour version for preference. I like the way you composed it with the parents seated off-centre and the overhanging trees.

I can see why you'd want to change the shot to black and white Paolo - the unnatural blues in the colour version are quite disturbing - but I think you went a bit far with this sketch effect. If you ask me, when you take PP to this level, it ceases to be photography - you'd be better off using a sketch book.
The composition works quite well, although tighter framing on the couple would have helped you out, as would waiting a second or so until there was no overlap of the man with the boat in the background.
