Photographer's Note

This is the old stone bridge on the Naviglio Grande in Castelletto di Cuggiono a small village 30 km west of Milan.

Recently restored it dates back to 1574 and was designed by Antonio Lonati.
It replaced an old wooden bridge built to access to the Ticino valley.
Raised in 1606 by Alexander Bisnati for easier navigation, it was restructured in 1735 as evidenced by the inscription on the parapet. Fortunately escaped destruction planned by the Germans at the end of the 1940-45 war.
Today the river is a popular site for bikers, fisherman or anyone who wants to simply take a stroll.
