Photographer's Note

Portovenere is a small village at the start of the Cinque Terra on the Ligurian Coast of Italy in the province of La Spezia's Gulf of Poets. It is an ancient town that can trace its roots back to the first century BC. This was the last stop for Roman gallions to re-supply on their way across the Mediterranean. I was lucky enough to get up early on what was going to be a wet and windy day. As I stepped out onto the promenade the sun popped through the clouds and flooded the face of the village with that wonderful early moning light we all search for. I hope you enjoy the shot and also hope that it may inspire you to visit one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
