Photographer's Note
Vernazza is probably the prettiest of the Cinque Terre, this was taken from the footpath to Monterosso after sunset. There is limited space to set up a tripod, so the bushes in the fg were unavoidable. 27mm. focal length, 2.5 second exposure. I did take more shots after the sky became darker, but I prefer this lighter version in this case.
The "vehicles" parked in front of the red building at left are boats, not cars.
Vernazza is accessible by foot, boat or train. By car the non-resident parking area is a 10 minute walk away downhill (25 minutes walk back uphill with luggage).

I believe the timing of this photo is the most convenient as it shows a great light and plenty of textures over the sea. A bit later and everything would be much darker and loosing detail. The town looks very beautiful with all those colourful buildings. It is quite amazing to see where they built the church. Well done.

Hi Tan
The POV is excellent as it allows a full view of the little bay. The lighting is just right as the streetlights etc don't get blown out.
Nicely done.

Bonjour Tan,

Hi Tan,
Never been they but these villages are very famous from numerous travel publications. I hope it wasn't too crowded by tourists in March. Tight space next to the sea, and no cars makes it special. Nice colours on those buildings and they shows quite brightly on this dusk shot. Really not an inch is wasted over there!

Excellent light for this view, Tan, the contrast of lighting and bright colours conveys a strong 3D feeling to this scene, and seen from a high ground it looks like a toy village...

Tan, a typical shot out of your camera. I would have recognized your signature even without your name on it. Great moment and POV with perfect 2s to blurr slightly the sea, although I wonder how it would look with a tighter aperture and longer exposure time, but than it wouldn't be yours anymore ;-)

Only the foreground bushes (easily cloned) tell this is not shot from a hot air balloon, once again the captin's pov speaks for itself, great view !

Very nice, you always give us the best views wherever you go. I remember climbing to the top of that tower across the way, but the view was not as good as this. And you have to pay ;-) You shot this at the perfect time of day to capture the lights of the village along with the 'blue hour' color of the sky. Perfect composition as well. I don't mind the bit of grass as the bottom.

Bellissima ripresa dall'alto dell'incantevole cittadina ligure.
Ottima la luce se pur al tramonto e buona anche la scelta del tempo di scatto "lungo" che ha permesso di dare un bell'effetto alle onde del mare, un po' agitato.
Complimenti, Tan

Hi Tan
Firstly it was great to catch up with you and thanks for bringing the ray of sunshine :-)
This is a place I'd love to visit but not in summer. I like the way the blue hour light brings out the pretty colours of the buildings. Your pov is spectacular showing off how the village is almost surrounded by water.

Hello Tan,
My 'TE joy' of the day is discovering the Cinque Terre and this photo is one of the best ones.
I especially like the lighting in the archway.
You captured the atmosphere of the place perfectly.
The 'rainbow' lighting in the water reminds me of your Hong Kong skyline night shot.
Best regards,
