Photographer's Note

I took that image from the small village of Fiascherino on the Ligurian east coast looking down in the Poets' Gulf, the Palmaria island and Portovenere.
The eastern coast of Liguria is called Riviera di Levante (Levante means the side where the sun rise, the East). Liguria have an arch shape and Genova is on the top point, in the middle.
righ from Genova there is the Levante, left there is the Ponente.
The Levante coast have dozens of fantastic village, many protected by Unesco programs, few small cities(less than 30.000 people) and hundreds of fantastic tiny villages. there are very few beaches, but the colours of the sea are wonderful.
In front of Portofino there are many famous spots for divers. wreck of the last 3 centuries and many yellow and red corals.
Famous villages are the Cinque Terre, Portovenere, Tellŕro, Camogli, Sestri Levante, Lerici, San Terenzo...

Today that area is called "Il Mare dei Milanesi" (the Sea of Milan's people), cause in the last 40 years too many houses and condos were built for holidays and vacations.
from mid May to end of September the 2 highways that link Milano with the Eastern Ligurian coast are crowded ALL the week ends. from the morning of Friday to the morning of Monday!
It are less than 150 km, but is not rare have a long trip of 3, 4 or 5 hours!
