Church of San Flaviano - Montefiascone (VT)

The asymmetrical main facade, in which the entrance to the lower church opens, is unfinished, in blocks of exposed peperino, with a very high part articulated by three large pointed arches, unequal between them, of which the central one it is wider and slightly protruding. In the median arch, dominated by the noble coat of arms of Cardinal Aldovrandi, there is a large Gothic portal, while the lateral ones are characterized by the presence of two small single lancet windows. The upper part with a cusped termination is lightened by three circular openings and on the left stands a small bell gable with two bells. Above the arches there is a balcony with a loggia for the entire width of the facade. A frame supported by shelves forms the base of the balcony parapet. Slender balusters rise from the same parapet to support a canopy with a wooden frame. The top section of the façade rises above the loggia, in the shape of a tympanum, marked only by two columns, with a larger central oculus and two other lateral ones that illuminate the upper church.

Hello Silvio,
This is a church that really looks like a church and not some kind of cave. There are some peculiar details that make it look quite original, including the bell tower. Generally I would describe it as more interesting than truly beautiful, even though the photo is taken with very good light and contrasts.

L'église est bien placée dans le cadrage. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails de l'église San Flaviano. La lumière donne un bon rendu aux couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

The dark local stone from which the Chiesa built from, looks outstanding & unique. Entrance gate and arches , bells up on the small tower and the scale given by the one lady on side's - all well rendered.

very attractive architecture. Quite a unique design. I like in particular the asymmetric tower, so charming. You captured the facade perfectly lit here with the long shadows adding the feeling of depth. The blue sky makes a wonderful background for it.
