The rock necropolis of Falerii Novi - Faleri - Fabrica di Roma (VT)
Falerii Novi is the Roman city built in the third century BC to deport the inhabitants of the Faliscan Falerii Veteres. Its walls are discovered along the road between Fabrica di Roma and Civita Castellana, near the hamlet of Faleri. Entering the junction for the Falisco Park, you reach the most famous entrance, the Porta di Giove.
The rocky necropolises are located nearby, along the ancient Via Amerina, of which large stretches of pavement are preserved: it is one of the lesser-known Roman roads, little attested in ancient sources and in epigraphic documents despite having played a role of primary importance as fast communication route, mainly for commercial purposes.
