Photographer's Note

I just come back from a trip in Rome where I stayed one week with three friends. This was such a nice experience ! I thought I had to post this shot first as it really shows how is Rome, full of narrow streets and motos and clothes hanging off the windows... All that makes the charm of the Italian capital.

Why using black and white ?
Mainly because of the contrast of the white clothes with the dark area surrounding me. Also because we had a lot of rain during the week, so the so-called Italian colours were a bit faded...

The shot was taken in the district of Trastevere, this means 'beyond the Tevere' which is the river crossing Rome. There is much to see in this lovely area of Rome, overall quiet streets that are not invaded by tourists. I read that there is a rivality between inhabitants of this district and those of the historical center of Rome, because the original inhabitants of these two areas were enemies, the Etrusques in the Trastevere, and the Latins, in Rome. If someone knows more about this 'rivality' (which is in fact more a tradition now!!), I will be glad to hear some information.
