Photographer's Note

Statue of Ares with corinzio Helmet and shield.

This statue is situate in the Canopo in the Villa Adriana.

Along the side the west the columns center are replaced them
from six cariatidi, four of this are copies of those of the
Eretteo on the Acropoli di Atene; the others two represent Sileni.
Towards the curved side they are other statues: the
Nilo, the Tevere, a crocodile. The spaces between the columns are
occupied from statues of Ares, Athena, Hermes and two Amazons. To
south of the channel it is a rectangular swimming pool, with lateral
atmospheres, that mixtilineal frame finishes with four columns sormontate
from one.

by wikipedia:

In Greek mythology, Ares is
the Olympian god of war and son of Zeus (king of the gods) and Hera.
The Romans identified Mars, the god of war (whom they had inherited from
the Etruscans) with Hellenic Ares, but among them, Mars stood in much higher
esteem. Among the Hellenes, Ares was always mistrusted: his birthplace and
true home was placed far off, among the barbarous and warlike Thracians
to Thrace he withdrew after he was discovered on a
couch with Aphrodite.(Odyssey . Though Ares' half-sister Athena was
also considered to be a war deity, Athena's stance was that of strategic
warfare while Ares' tended to be that of war for the sake of war.

For speaking about my photo:
The staue's Ares also if is a copy of the original it is very beautiful.
The image assumes a towards right, this why the columns are not
aligned between of they. I have intentional to put the statue parallel to
the land in order to carry the single eye on it.
