Photographer's Note

Detail of strange creatures that sing the music of water among the hundred fountains in the gardens of Villa d'Este (Tivoli).

The Villa d'Este was commissioned by Cardinal Ippolito II d'Este (XVII century), son of Lucrezia Borgia and grandson of Pope Alexander VI. He was appointed Governor of Tivoli and received the gift of the existing villa, which he had entirely reconstructed. The jewel of the Villa are the spectacular gardens with over a hundred fountains.
