Photographer's Note

Rome, still very near the Piazza dei Fiori for those who know Rome...

All over Europe, since 1989, fall of the iron curtain, floods of roumanian gypsies have come into Western Europe. Since then, one can see lots of beggars at traffic lights, metro lines and streets of heavy pedestrian traffic... they are usually trying to indulge some compassion from you adopting a very inferior and, IMO, unbearable posture and attitude like this one, which is supposed to affect you morally and help you get rid off some euros... this woman is not watching the people passing by in a submission attitude and has a little poster with her saying 4 kids, nothing to eat, no job... Lots of Tv and press reports have revealed the existence of real begging networks, close to prostitution and drug dealing networks... How can we help those people? big question, and i have not got the clue... sorry for those serious and somewhat harsh thoughts this morning.. have a nice pentecoast week end...;-)
